Canon: Naruto (anime)
Canon point: post Naruto Shippuden
Age: 18
Sex/Gender: Female
Appearance: Here
And Here
History: Hinata is a supporting, and hopeless romance, character in Naruto, She has a crush on the main character, Naruto, and continues to hold it through the whole series, to the point of mortally endangering herself in Naruto Shippuden. That aside she is a member of Team 8, a team of young ninja who specialize in tracking and tailing targets. Her teammates are protective young men (and one nin-dog) who hate her family with a passion and try to help Hinata with her crushing lack of self-esteem. With their support and the 'inspiration' of her hero, Naruto, Hinata practices hard enough to establish her own ninja technique instead of her family jutsu, a factor that does not endear her to her family. She is essentially cast out of the Hyuga household and her position as heir rescinded at the end of the Naruto series.
At the end of the Naruto series, and between the time jump, Hinata is sent into medical nin training, a profession that blends well with her deft ninjutsu techniques, making her an incredibly good field medic and low level surgeon. Team 8 aided in the search for the insane (and possessed) Sasuke, and later they served in the massive battle against the invaders that nearly destroyed Konoha. This is also when Hinata confessed her love to Naruto and sacrificed herself to buy him time.
Thankfully she did not die, but in order to bridge the two year time gap from 16 years old to 18 years old, she took a long time to recover, much like her town itself. This was the second time in her history she was badly injured and both times in order to impress Naruto. It made her seriously rethink her 'love'. Since her recovery, Team 8 has spent most of it's time out in the field, avoiding town and trying to recover, emotionally, from the near destruction of their village. It has drawn the trio together in profound ways, and Hinata's overwhelming crush on Naruto has finally faded.
Personality: Hinata was raised in an incredibly abusive household with high expectations and no tolerance for failure. This created a crippling self-esteem issue that led to stuttering, inability to maintain eye contact, and the desire to avoid confrontation. This didn't help her in her ninja training, and a great deal of her effort was devoted to learning to fight properly despite her issues. She has come a long way since then but she remains soft spoken, prefers to mediate fights instead of confront people, and stutters when overly stressed.
Powers:
*Byukugan = Ability to see in nearly 360 degrees around herself when activated, x-ray vision, ability to see chakra and energy paths in a body. This causes her milky eyes to vein up as well when active (currently inactive, needs to remember how to activate).
*Gentle Fist Technique = Family tajitsu technique, ability to disrupt internal organs and chakra systems without breaking the skin. (currently inactive, needs to remember Byakugan)
*Two step lion technique = Hinata's personal technique relying on flexibility more than flashiness. (currently inactive/subconscious reaction to danger)
*Medical jutsus = The ability to activate and utilize medical jutsus to repair and direct physical damage. This can aid in any damage except broken bones and incredibly damaged organs. (likely to be triggered by need/emergency)
*First Aid techniques = Ability to set bones, stitch wounds, and the like when not able to use medical jutsu. (remembered when necessary)
*Ninja tags and training = Water and wall walking, ability to trigger explosive tags etc. (Subconscious for the walking and leaping techniques, explosive techniques are non-active until circumstance requires).
DOTES animal: Chartruex Cat (Here)
Sample post:
Hinata ducked when she stepped through the cafeteria door, reflex and instinct moving her before her mind could recognize the projectile coming at her. It didn't save her in the least from the cream pie splatter when it hit the wall, but at least only the back of her head was covered in sticky goo. The feel of the cream slipping through her hair made her ears go flat and her back itch with shivers that could have been hair raising, should she have more hair.
Ew. Ew. Ew. Sticky. Sticky and wet-ish. Eeeeeeeeeeew.
"Ahno...ah...who? AH!" Yes, more ducking. Apparently there was a war going on in the cafeteria. With a bit of scrambling she managed to get behind the kitchen counter, a moment more and she was peeking up over the counter to try to make some sense of the situation. Nope, no sense to be seen there at all. There was only one thing left to do then...
...take the spray hose from the sink and open fire over the counter.

Confessions
Jul. 31st, 2009 07:58 amShe'd stayed a whole day at the inn, resting and recovery some strength before going back. With the rest and tight bandaging it was far easier to climb out of the ravine and find her teammates. They, to, were bedraggled, but all the enemy nin (four including the one she had defeated) had been killed.
She made them all wait while she bandaged her teammates; and all three found it interesting to see how much their job patron was sweating as the minutes stretched on.
He was stingy, their patron, not wishing to pay even the full amount for the lower-rank job they had been originally assigned. Had he not been bruised? How could he prevent bandits from striking on a long road? Shino reasoned with him of course. Their team leader was a very convincing man at times. They left Mist country no more than a day later than intended.
Only then did Kiba fish out the coins he'd 'liberated' from their patron. Was it his fault that the man's purse had ripped a little during the rescue?
Certainly Tsunada-sama would be pleased that the patron had paid all that was due the higher rank mission it had become. The man would still be blacklisted as a liar though. That was all to the good. In truth, like many of their missions, they were lucky to win.
Kiba was running ahead of them on the road back, teasing and playing with Akamaru despite the pairs injuries when she felt Shino come up beside. This was certainly no cause for alarm but...he had that expectant, waiting air about him that usually meant there was something she should have noticed...
"Hinata" just that word and she turned to blink up at him, worried that a wound was paining him, or that he had sensed more ninjas or..."You are favoring your left arm. You are injured."
Oh.
Oh.
And she hadn't asked either of her teammates to help bandage her own wounds! Because...they were taken care of. "Y...yes." she agreed. "I l-landed poorly after the flood. I will be alright though! I am f-fine!" she smiled, and just knew that he wasn't going to be put of by such assurances.
Indeed, nothing would do but that she remove her coat and show the tight, clean bandages under her net shirt. He examined them in silence as they walked...her teammate did a lot in silence. Often she thought it was to balance out Kiba's noise. Today she didn't know why he was so quiet. "Explain, Hinata."
She felt herself flushing as she slid back into her coat. She had to bury her chin in the ruff just to compose herself enough to answer. "I did not c-compromise the mission! I...I didn't think you would believe me!"
Shino simply arched an eyebrow above his sunglasses, inviting the full confession.
It was incredibly hard to tell him about the inn. About the strange things and the way things changed. How she'd checked to see if it was an illusion...the people she'd met. All of it told in a stuttering, worried whisper to her teammate down the long road. She wasn't insane. She wasn't...she was worried he would think she was though.
He was silent for miles more as they traveled. It wasn't until dusk, with Kiba and Akamaru still far ahead, that he broke the silence once more. "Can you get there deliberately?"
Hinata blinked, his question catching her off-guard. "I...don't know."
Shino nodded, as if expecting no other answer from her "Here." a Destruction flitted into his palm, then he casually reached over and placed the ticklish little thing in her hair. "He will stay with you. Try to go to your inn when our mission is completed. You can both tell me what happens afterward."
She actually missed a step at his pronouncement. He believed her! HE BELIEVED HER! "Yes! We will!"

Those happy AU times
Jul. 18th, 2009 07:39 amHyuuga Hinata, nominal head of the family now, clutched her bag tighter and tried to ignore her sister's venomous glare as they walked up the drive to the large boarding school. She didn't like it, though it wasn't any bigger than her family's compound home in Japan. NO, she didn't like it because it was necessary. Her father was dead, murdered by her cousin...though teh man had certainly deserved it.
She had given Neji the best lawyers she could with the money she could draw at this young age and still he had been sent to prison. He would be there at least ten years, provided he behaved. That was due more to their standing as a criminal family, Yakuza, than to the actual crime. As he had been the eldest living relative, and the girls were as yet underage, a boarding school was necessary.
And it was her fault.
It was she who had cried to Neji when she failed to be as tough, as strong, as her father needed her to be. She who had been so weak, asking for solace...for help. And teh only way to counter father had been to kill him in the end.
She loved her cousin. She missed him already...
Hanabi's fingernails bit into Hinata's palms, drawing blood, but not even teh barest whimper of pain from the older girl. "Your fault." The girl hissed. "Worthless, weak, it should have been your hand...and it should have been Neji's head you took."
Hanabi had loved their father. She'd been the youngest, treasured and pampered...Hinata swallowed the pain as her due and lifted her lavender gaze to the school doors. Two teachers stood at the door waiting to greet them. At least they could continue their training here. It was part of the curriculum. She bowed lsightly, Hanabi beside her bowing lower as befitted her station.
Teh pair watched them, then bowed back, the first smiling and holding the door open "Hello! I'm Sensei Iruka, this is Sensei Kakashi! We are very glad to have you with us! Your room is this way ladies!"
And so the two girls arrived at the boarding school known as Konoha, Hinata quiet and still in her formal kimono of mourning...and her sister a darker, harsher shadow beside her.
