Who: The girls of Konoha, Neiji, Dezzi, Piper?
When: A month or so after prom, so summer ish?
What: A 'cultural exchange'.

Tsunade had served her father with a letter informing him of the alternate realm's request for his daughter, the nascent diplomat in training, to attend a cultural exchange event for young women. It had been phrased in a way that he was not allowed to deny the request, and Neiji was cleared as the necessary security for the Hyuuga heir.

Neiji, naturally, was thrilled.

The invitation to everyone else, civilian and ninja alike, was phrased more along the lines of 'the alternate world Dezzi invites the young lady of the house to attend an evening of fun'. Most parents agreed given the excitement of their daughters. How not after all? A larger event that allowed many youngsters to experience things beyond the portal was rather amazing. The general madness of any group suddenly deciding to ALL GO SHOPPING for things inspired by things Dezzi had worn, well, there was going to be a hell of a lot of girls in a wide array of 'this could be right, right?' presenting themselves at the gate at the appointed time.

In addition to the Hyuuga man, there was also Hana, of the Inu clan and Kurenai, Hinata's team teacher, reporting as 'chaperones'. The 'knuckleheads' Hana usually ran with, the triplet nindogs, were home barring Bo, the only female.

It was a girls' night after all.

Tenten actually had a genuine alt world babydoll tee on, borrowed from Hinata, and it fit that cheerful brunette far better honestly. Acid washed pink and purple looked lovely and the graphic of fireworks and Party Time suited her...and probably was the reason Neiji was far less grumpy about the only guy going. His milky eyes cousin had possibly planned it that way. The more chance her cousin had to consider romancing AWAY from Lee the better for all involved. She wasn't going to apologize for introducing Tenten to bubblegum though in the least. It just went with the general atmosphere today, honest!

Hinata slipped through ahead of everyone, mainly to check if Dezzi was ready? "The girls are all gathered, you rented somewhere for the sleepover, yes?" she grinned. After all this was FAR too many people to crash in Dezi's apartment.

"Kid," Reason was in her forties, he was a kid, "I vow on my husband and kids that I will watch, smell, and listen for Hinata's safety and Hinata's safety alone for the duration of a dance if you want to dance with that girl."

"It would also violate the conditions of this trip," he noted a touch regretfully. "The girls are to enjoy themselves without male interference from our village." His attendance was a compromise.

"Next time, then." she said, patting his shoulder like she would an equal and turning to head back to her usual spot.

Dezzi pulled Hinata over to someone her age, "This is my cousin Sam! She's in the running for being alpha when it's my generation!"

"You could be too!"

"I am moving to another world where I will not be an alpha and I am fine with that!"

He allowed the pat since the werewolves were touchy creatures, then got back into the rafters yes. He'd analyze just how annoyed he was later, when he was off duty!

"Ahno...hello," Hinata smiled at the girl. "The Inuzuka clan is truly c-caring for Dezzi and she will have a v-very good life with us!"

"I knooooooow." Sam, a few years older than Dezzi, groaned, "I'm just gonna miss her, and fights are less interesting now that she's stopped competing."

Hinata winced and very carefully patted the girl's shoulder? "We do not know what the Hokage intends for t-trade but maybe you can visit?"

"That'd be good," she said, where a human child of this world might say she'd better. Wolves knew better.

Dezzi shrugged, "Happily, even as a diplomat I don't have to know what's going on at that level. The real diplomats are doing all the legal stuff."

Hinata giggled softly, looking at her friend, "Dezzi you are a real diplomat! You'll just get m-more duties as you get older!" They all would!

"L-likely the first step is c-consolidating the gate!"

Dezzi looked horrified, "But...I want to be an engineer..." she half-whispered.

"Oh, then you're gonna need to buy the apartment building!" Sam was saying, "I can get you the information on that!"

"You will get to do t-that too!" Hinata assured. "C-civilian specialists are important! And if you d-don't want to be here often Shino and I may end up l-lead diplomats..." Who knew?

"It is m-mainly so you are safe and r-respected when you are here!"

"Oh, okay. I just...had visions of having to do diplomacy all the time and...I am not diplomatic. I'm sparkles and bubblegum enthusiasm, but if I were diplomatic your dad might not hate me and...whooooooo boy." Dezzi spent as much time as possible as far as possible away from Hinata's family.

Except Neiji. She liked how he took care of Hinata, even if he wasn't sure about the werewolf herself.

She actually wilted slightly at mention of her father, how not? He had the effect on her! "N-no," she sighed. "He d-does not approve of f-friends." And she stuttered more when she wilted. It was a terrible cycle really.

Speak of the devil, he was standing above Hinata, apparently sensitive to that degree of stuttering.

The only cure for that was a tight hug! Dezzi even nuzzled Hinata's hair in a companionable whuff just like Akamaru's.

"Sorry, Neiji, I mentioned her father." Dezzi informed him, via Hinata's hair.

Neiji crouched, looking briefly worried, then hopped down to casually brush a hand along Dezzi's couch. Slipping the girl a chocolate bar to feed his cousin? Absolutely. Then back in the rafters while Hinata hiccuped and tried to get herself back to smiling with Dezzi snuffling in her hair.

Dezzi waved the chocolate bar in front of Hinata's face, "Tasty, tasty chocolate?" she offered. No mention of Neiji. Nope. "Oh, or a drink? They've got sodas, cocoa, all kinds of things."

"I just want to...n-not dance for a bit I think," she mumbled into Dezzi's neck. "S-sorry."

"Not dancing it is!" Dezzi agreed, hefting her friend about a quarter inch off the floor (strength, thy name is not TVSODVAWL Jones) and jokingly penguin-waddling off the dancefloor towards a table.

Hinata squeaked and tried not to wiggle? She did NOT need to trip Dezzi while she was...waddling. "Ahno, Dezzi...you c-can keep dancing?" That was all she said she wanted to do at this stop?

"I know I can," Dezzi said, finally putting Hinata down,"buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, I can come here anytime. Piper is one of my uncles. I spend a lot of time here when you guys are on a mission."

She glanced around then sat down after a moment, "you d-don't sleep here right?" When they had missions they were gone several days!

"No, but I'll come after class and dance until dad gets home, if he's home. If he's not sometimes I come here for a while before going home, and sometimes I see if Tsume will let me stay over in Konoha."

"Oh g-good," she nodded. "I k-know you have friends and p-places to stay but we worry when we're g-gone!"

"You shouldn't." she promised, "I mean, not more than you worry when you're with me. I...really do try to be safer than I used to. Kiba shouldn't go grey before he's, like, really old."

"We don't l-like you being alone!" she tried to explain? Dezzi had a lot of friends but the team felt really close to her!

She beamed, dropped at a chair, missed it by a good inch, and laughed from the floor, "I know! I don't like it either, but if I went with you we'd probably all die."
