Clubbing

Who: The girls of Konoha, Neiji, Dezzi, Piper?
When: A month or so after prom, so summer ish?
What: A 'cultural exchange'.

Tsunade had served her father with a letter informing him of the alternate realm's request for his daughter, the nascent diplomat in training, to attend a cultural exchange event for young women. It had been phrased in a way that he was not allowed to deny the request, and Neiji was cleared as the necessary security for the Hyuuga heir.

Neiji, naturally, was thrilled.

The invitation to everyone else, civilian and ninja alike, was phrased more along the lines of 'the alternate world Dezzi invites the young lady of the house to attend an evening of fun'. Most parents agreed given the excitement of their daughters. How not after all? A larger event that allowed many youngsters to experience things beyond the portal was rather amazing. The general madness of any group suddenly deciding to ALL GO SHOPPING for things inspired by things Dezzi had worn, well, there was going to be a hell of a lot of girls in a wide array of 'this could be right, right?' presenting themselves at the gate at the appointed time.

In addition to the Hyuuga man, there was also Hana, of the Inu clan and Kurenai, Hinata's team teacher, reporting as 'chaperones'. The 'knuckleheads' Hana usually ran with, the triplet nindogs, were home barring Bo, the only female.

It was a girls' night after all.

Tenten actually had a genuine alt world babydoll tee on, borrowed from Hinata, and it fit that cheerful brunette far better honestly. Acid washed pink and purple looked lovely and the graphic of fireworks and Party Time suited her...and probably was the reason Neiji was far less grumpy about the only guy going. His milky eyes cousin had possibly planned it that way. The more chance her cousin had to consider romancing AWAY from Lee the better for all involved. She wasn't going to apologize for introducing Tenten to bubblegum though in the least. It just went with the general atmosphere today, honest!

Hinata slipped through ahead of everyone, mainly to check if Dezzi was ready? "The girls are all gathered, you rented somewhere for the sleepover, yes?" she grinned. After all this was FAR too many people to crash in Dezi's apartment.

"Ahno...I wouldn't know?" she admitted with a small smile. She'd never really HAD a girl's night so much as all the female ninja getting shoved together for one reason or another? It was hard to talk her father into allowing some types of social, she'd felt incredibly lucky to stumble into Dezzi so many years ago! "This is my f-first!" And it was going to be fun!

First as opposed to just hanging with Dezzi anyway yes.

Ah, but then she was falling into the casual translation for everyone! All the girls had learned token phrases of politeness and enthusiasm (she'd made a list with Dezzi to send with the invitations) but most did not have that much English experience! Tenten was doing alright though, given Neiji practiced with his team when Hinata gave him her notes! "We are all very, very grateful! And if you are not too busy Ammi-chan would like to observe how one of these is made? Her father owns Icharaku Ramen so cooking styles are an interest!"

"Not tonight." the nonna said, with a smile for the indicated girl, "Tonight is for girls to have fun...next time we can share recipes."

Dezzi translated as well, after bolting her pizza, so that Hinata could eat. "There should be people who can talk to you all at the club, a lot of the anime club is going to be there so people will be able to at least sort-of understand each other."

There was some smiling and general chatter though the girl looked a touch disappointed yes, "ahno, we're not certain how often a cultural group will be allowed," Hinata admitted to the woman, "but she thanks you for the potential future opportunity!"

Cue...explaining anime clubs between babbled laughter and pizza devouring yes! "I invited the Japanese course as well, or told the teacher?" Hinata admitted to Dezzi with a smile. "Hopefully people come!"

"Desolation! Make sure this thing happens!"

Dezzi froze for a second, then mumbled a "Yes, auntie." in a slightly panicked way. She'd figure something out. Somehow.

The old woman looked at Dezzi's face, sighed, and pointed at the girl, "You, come." Which was the lead for a very, very rapid demonstration of pizza making that, nonetheless, would take until the rest of the crowd was done eating.

Dezzi, meanwhile, was mumbling things about cultural exchange, nutrition, and half-thought through attempts at putting together a restaurant diplomacy action report.

Hinata jumped when Dezzi did, already bowing in apology because obviously she'd messed up! "I'm sorry!" Ack! Ack ack! "We'll find some way!" Yes, absolutely!

Ammi hopped to her feet to follow immediately when Hinata waved her forward, and she watched with an intensity any teacher could desire? The occasional darting touch of her finger to one ingredient or another to taste things meant she got a solid idea of what was in the dough! And sauce! And everything! Obviously this was the BEST NIGHT already in her eyes!

Soon enough it was time to pull Ammi away from the kitchen, however. The group went back into the bus and Puck pulled to the rear of the club to park. Dezzi bounced her way towards the front of the club.

Piper's wife (Amanda "Listen to" Reason) was there, leaning against the door in her SECURITY T-shirt. She smiled at the girls and said, "Alright, ladies, have fun." and opened the door. Piper himself stood behind the bar, but between Reason and Piper there was a veritable sea of...people.

Lots of human people. Lots of maybe-human people. Many obvious werewolves. A handful of...people. A woman with feathers for hair danced cheek-to-cheek with a person covered in scales. A flickering humanoid beam of light crooned into a karaoke machine, being egged on by a cat with a human face. A few other people who may or may not have ever been human.

Ammi was making notes! SOMEONE GIVE HER A PEN! Yes, recipes kind of scrawled on her arms during the bus ride! In deference to that Hinata loaned the girl her coat to cover those arms! That left Hinata in a netted shirt and a loose T but hey, it was okay, right? Shino was going to steal pictures from people.

She giggled at the door lady, waved at Piper and generally...stayed by the door as the girls bunched up to look everything over. Neiji ghosted past people t slip into the rafters, doing a general check before he nodded to the adults. Safe, yes. Kurenai chuckled and shooed people to the dance floor, Bo and Hana went to say hello to the wolves since they really hadn't been over much!

Hinata slipped an arm around Dezi's waist and grinned, "I recognize some of them, college classes did come!" Yay! In fact that thin young man with bat wings and quills for hair that was grinned up at them was from the advanced Japanese clas! yay!

The other people in the rafters nodded at Neiji casually before returning to their conversations.

Dezzi slung her arm around Hinata's in return and waved at some friends before bouncing into the dance floor, dragging her best friend with her. "Woo!" was the werewolf's half-howl, which was echoed by a ragged assortment of other half-howls from all around the room. Dezzi flung herself into dancing, and as the other girls inched (or moved) onto it as well they were asked to dance, danced with, and generally folded into the party atmosphere easily.

Hinata didn't howl, it wasn't in her nature, but she giggled happily for a several minutes as she was hauled along to the center of the dance floor. A sound that anyone up in the rafters may be glad to note made her guard smile? Neiji did care for his cousin, now.

"Just...just d-don't think about it, just move!" she instructed Dezzi cheerfully. "No brain, let your b-body do what it knows how to do!" She privately thought Dezzi's body got in the way of her feet a lot! And maybe, maybe they could keep Kiba from having a heart attack from the dance report if she was distracted!

"Just dance!" Dezzi agreed, flailing rhythmically. It was pretty, at least, but also...not exactly dancing. She'd keep doing that for the whole night, given a chance, but she did try to keep her flailing contained enough that she didn't hurt herself.

Mixed success.

"Dance," Hinata agreed with a giggle, managing to pull Dezzi into dancing with her whenever she tripped? Hinata wasn't as strong as Kiba or Shino, no, but she was a trained ninja who could carry targets if necessary! Keeping Dezzi from hitting the ground was easy, honest!

In a giggly way!

Dezzi danced. (Rhythmically flailed, mostly.) She danced until she broke her ankle, then danced after it healed. She danced, in fact, until a strident male voice called,

"DES-o-LATION Jones!" causing Dezzi and all the wolves in her vicinity to cringe. Visibly.

The cry wasn't as triggering for the visiting group of course, but the cringing? Oh that had Hinata sliding in front of her friend casually, fluidly, and the other trained young ladies easing into less crowded spots just in case.

Security was suppose to handle things, maybe, but that didn't mean they wouldn't intercept things at need?

"Are people often s-so rude in clubs?" Hinata asked softly, milky eyes unblinking as she waited.

"Where have you been?!" cried the boy, sure he was Dezzi's age but he was just a boy. Civilian, and young, and looking at Dezzi like she hung the stars and moon. He was...human. With hair dyed grey, and while it was well done...his roots were black. He also lacked that certain something in motion that all the wolves (even Dezzi) had. A blithe disregard for their own shins, perhaps?

She didn't cower, though. "Ohmigawd, Jonathan, go away!" was her response, then to Hinata, "I think he's about as close to a nemesis as I have."

"Don't be ridiculous, Desolation, I'm not a nemesis! I'm your future." It was said in a happily besotted way, making Dezzi groan with disgust.

"He's a wanna-be." she explained to Hinata, trying to ignore the boy, "Human - very much a civilian - but he..."

"I'm a werewolf in my soul." Jonathan said, trying to inch around Hinata so he could put an arm around Dezzi. Who didn't move because she believed to the heart of her that Hinata wouldn't let this guy touch her.

A wanna-be? Someone who wanted, desperately, to be something he was not born as apparently? "Thank you for the term," she noted to her friend easily, now she had something to apply to people who made anime references and moon eyes at her on campus!

As for reaching around, no, indeed, Hinata was not going to allow it. Just a shift of her hand and stance and the arm was going wide while the boy's feet were not finding a way forward, "you are not invited to touch her. As her fiance cannot attend this function I stand in his stead." It was clear and concisely said; she rarely stuttered when engaged in work after all.

"I ask you remove yourself from this area."

Well, that stopped him. "FIANCE?!"

"Just so you know, Hinata, I did tell Kiba about Jonathan and said it wasn't a Kiba solution needed because I'm not dumb and if he got surprised...well. Kiba." 'Well Kiba' was, she thought, a perfectly good explanation.

"Desolation! What do you mean fiance!?"

"I," she said from behind the impenetrable wall that was Hinata, "am engaged. To someone who is very, very, not you!"

"Understandable," Hinata nodded slightly. Kiba, after all, was very himself and wouldn't take kindly to not knowing about a delusional person around Dezzi. "It is an excellent match, and will bind our two worlds together." Something this child could not do.

At all.

Ino came up on Jonathan's shoulder, smiling, "yeah, I mean we're all so jealous! The first one in our teams to be engaged!" Most the village visitors nodded or offered soft agreements at that statement! "And it will be an amazing diplomatic event!"

"You will also stop using the name that upsets my friend Dezzi," Hinata noted coolly. "It is rude and beyond dismissive of her importance to insist on such."

For a second he looked like a fish. Just a second, though, and then,

"Des-zi. You can't seriously have..." she just nodded as he spoke, "but we're meant to be! We've been together..."

"We were 'together'," air quotes exist! "for nine minutes, in kindergarten, before you pulled my ponytail so hard I've kept it short for all these years and I bit you. Since then you've been threatening to sue me! When you're not claiming to love me!" then, to all the interested people from the other world, "I swear I've never dated him. It would be gross! The only person I've ever been interested in is Kiba."

"If you were meant to be the elders would be aware of such," a girl offered from the sidelines. There was a LOT of faith in elders in their world! And they'd arranged the engagement for Dezzi and Kiba! "/Those were the right words, yes?/"

"/Probably dangerous to date a person who keeps souls captive,/" her friend agreed, nodding at Dezzi. "/It does not seem to have been healthy for his head./"

"What is suing?" Ino blinked, leaning on Jonathan casually as she waited on an answer.

"A legal course to negotiate compensations for damages," Hinata offered, not shifting in the least but she had no reason to engage since the man had conceded on the name front?

"He doesn't look damaged to me? He's still got his arm!"

"So..." Dezzi bit her lower lip, ignoring the blustering for a moment, "see. Over here...humans aren't always...good about non-humans. We're fine if we keep to ourselves, and we're not obviously discriminated against much anymore, but...I'm not human. If I got sued, I might get in a lot of trouble. Be marked a 'dangerous non-human' and get targeted by extremists."

"You know I wouldn't...not really..." he was spluttering behind her, "what does he have that I don't?!"

With a small sneer on her face - it didn't belong there, but he brought out the worst in her - Dezzi said, "You mean other than me? Kiba is strong, and sweet, and super hot. He worries about me, and calls me beautiful, and gave me bees as an engagement gift." Well, he'd tried to give her bees. They'd been gone. The thought was still there!

"If he tried you would come live at home then," Ino shrugged, "but since it was just an empty threat he carried for years then I'm afraid he's just a...word?" Hmmm.

"Jerk!" Tenten smiled, bopping to the music still. "Which means he doesn't get to stay here either because we only let the civvies near nice people! I'll go ask security what this world's normal punishment for blackmail is!"

"My teammate Kiba is highly trained, rising well in the ranks, and treats Dezzi with respect and care." For Kiba definitions of such but yes! "If he truly holds a sealed soul though we may wish the elders to see to him."

"He doesn't have a sealed soul." Dezzi said, relaxing as someone went to get security, "He just decided that getting bit meant he was part werewolf." She rolled her eyes, "It's not." Obviously, or Kiba would be a stocky wolf half the time.

"Dezzi..." the kid still looked betrayed, "You can't do this to me!"

"I. Am. In. Love. With. My. Fiance." The rudest thing Dezzi ever did, on purpose, was to clap in time with every one of those words. It was also the first time she said in love with regarding Kiba. She needed to take a moment after that.

"Ah, his phrasing was odd then, we misunderstood," Hinata nodded slightly, taking a moment to explain to the others trying to follow the conversation as well. "I believe there are hospitals in your lands for those experiencing delusions?" She was taking a lot of medical courses!

"And that's that," Ino agreed cheerfully. "She isn't doing anything to you, she's living her life, and you get one chance to walk away now before Security comes."

"Yeah, but his dad is a rich lawyer, and mine is a broke PI...so..." she shrugged, "he gets to do this, and I get to be glad I'm leaving this world soon."

That got a GASP and Jonathan lunging to try to kiss Dezzi, "No, no, don't suicide!"

"You are a lead diplomat, Dezzi-chan," Hinata noted soberly. "No lawyer will outrank you." That was just fact!

And, well that lunge was not smart. Not smart at all. Jonathan wanted to thump off a vested chest that didn't even budge, right? "Hinata-sama is also not to be touched," Neiji noted icily.
